We have a basement in our shared student house and inside one of the rooms there’s a hatch that leads into a smaller bricked off room. Got the head torch going and climbed in the other day and found this old music player as well as a mangled pram and bike. I’ll research more about it when i get some time but it used to play and record old tapes. I’ve been having ideas of how we’ll be presenting our work in the exhibition and depending on space and time, i was hoping to create a sculptural installation to go along with the hung prints and sleeves. I’ve got a set of two old speaker drivers as well that i’ve been meaning to do something with. We shall see.

Current work in progress- illustration ideas for the band Wildlife. We’ve been told our man Marlon has been added to the Paul Smith Playlist so he’ll be directly linked on their website and in turn he’s going to be linking people to every illustration and design we do for him. The band’s scheduled release is in August so we have some time but the manager is keen to get the designs done asap for all online presence- Myspace, Twitter, Facebook and Blog. We’ve been totally collaborative in the sketches and have sent and worked on each other’s designs. It’s working pretty well and Geo headed to one of their gigs recently to properly meet them and ask them a few questions we came up with to get a better idea. We’ll now be adding drawings of convicts together with the patterns, not exactly sure how it’ll work but it’ll be a good opportunity to experiment with character illustrations rather than just pattern. We’ll also be working on a hand drawn type for the Wildlife logo, currently looking at styles that would compliment the illustration.

Oh my, oh my. Playedio is now dead and out of the ashes has risen a new collective called LUCID. the Playedio family has extended and six of us have come together to form a better, faster, stronger online Radio station with a platform to put on nights consisting of live bands, DJs and artwork with the emphasis on forward thinking culture within music and art. Everyone’s almost sickening passion for music and fresh illustration has been proper motivating. After our launch night, i’ll be looking at taking in submissions and curating artwork alongside live events with the others. There’s also a zine coming soon that we’ll be throwing in people’s faces on the night.

The launch night in Shoreditch, London will be thoroughly enjoyable, you should come.
